The quality of store-bought orthotics determines how long they last. High-quality prescription orthotics typically last two years. Orthotics are made to resist the wear and strain of standing and walking, but they will unavoidably wear out over time if used on a daily basis. While a normal custom orthotic may last between two and three years, not every instance is the same. Some people need to replace theirs every year, while others can get up to 5 years (and sometimes even much more) out of theirs.
