Is it possible to walk with a sesamoid bone fracture?

Asked 4 years ago

Is it serious enough that you would have to stay off of your feet, or could you still walk?

Long strides will be difficult, as will running on the ball of the foot. Because of the pain that patients may be experiencing, dancing might become nearly impossible. Your foot may be immobilized in a cast or brace if your sesamoid has been shattered. Treatment consists of immobilization in a boot and, in many cases, non-weight bearing to allow the area to recover.
