How do I keep balanced while performing a downswing?

Hi there. I am new to golfing and have heard that the downswing puts your body at the highest risk of injury. Is there an orthotic that I can use to improve my foot balance and coordination while I swing, so that I do not put too much strain on my spine or shoulder muscles?
