Can uneven leg length cause Osteoarthritis?

Asked 2 years ago

I have uneven leg length (about 1cm) and am worried that this might lead to some form of arthritis in the future. Is this a possibility and if so, what can I do to try and prevent it?

Limb length discrepancy causes an uneven and excess loading of the knee, hip, and lumbar segments of the vertebrae joints. This, in turn, increases the risk of developing OA in the future. To prevent that, consider using an insole on the shorter foot to even the length of the leg on both sides.
