Why do I have swollen feet and ankles after a day of work?
Asked 5 years ago
When I get home from work my feet and ankles are always really swollen. Why does this happen? I do stand for most of my workday, but I am not sure how that would cause my feet to swell.

The following are the causes of swelling feet and ankle pain after a day at work: Excess body weight can impair blood circulation, causing fluid to accumulate in the feet, legs, and ankles. Long periods of standing or sitting When the muscles are inactive, they are unable to return bodily fluids to the heart. Swelling in the legs can be caused by the retention of fluids and blood. Swelling can also be caused by problems with the veins in the legs (varicose veins) and hormonal changes.
