Why do my feet and ankles swell up after I go for a run?
Asked 4 years ago
When I go for a run in the mornings, I often come back with swollen feet and ankles. Does anyone know why this happens?

It's called venous insufficiency: The continuous impact of running causes microtraumas to the small capillaries that deliver oxygen to our extremities, which cause fluid accumulation and swelling not just in your ankles, feet, or legs but all the body.
It is also because of low sodium levels in the blood, the balance of electrolytes to water. That's why it is important to balance your electrolyte levels when you are on longer runs.
