What factors can aggravate Morton's Neuroma?

Asked 3 years ago

If I have Morton's Neuroma should I still be exercising and spending long periods of time on my feet? What are some factors which could aggravate Morton's Neuroma?

Morton’s neuroma is caused by interdigital nerves thickening causing pressure on the nerve. So activities that increases pressure/compression on the nerve such as running and intensive are contraindicated. Tight/ill-fitting and high heel shoes also induce pressure on the nerve. I have found custom orthotics help relieve pressure when exercising. This reduces pain and correct faulty gait biomechanics that may cause nerve irritation.
