How long does it take to recover from Tailor's Bunionectomy?

Asked 4 years ago

Hello fellow humans. I'm going in for surgery for a bunion on the outside of my little toe. I'm relieved about this because I am an athlete, and this bunion has been an absolute pain. Do you know how long it would take to recover and when I can start running again?

It could take 4-6 months for you to fully recover after surgery on your tailor's bunion. You may be advised to be off work for as little as 2 weeks (for a completely sedentary job with no mobility requirements) to as long as 2-3 months (for a job that requires standing/walking). As a result, if you're an athlete, you'll need to take a break from training for at least three months to allow your body to fully heal.

In the first few weeks, you may or may not be required to wear a cast or orthotic support to help with joint alignment and healing.
