What happens after plantar plate tear surgery?
Asked 4 years ago
Will I be able to walk after a successful plantar plate tear surgery, or will I have to use crutches? How long will it take to get better?

The plantar plate is a thick ligament so healing takes time. You'll need a recovery time of about 6-8 weeks after torn plantar plate surgery to be able to walk independently. However, you will need to get off the foot so crutches are necessary initially after the surgery.
