Can I develop Achilles Tendonitis if I am taking statins?

Hi, my doctor prescribed me Simvastatin due to me being at a high risk of cardiovascular disease and needing to reduce my blood cholesterol. However, I'm worried that the side effect of a statin may result in developing Achilles Tendonitis.

While statins may help lower blood cholesterol levels, they also increase the risk of Achilles tendonitis. According to research, statins increase the risk of developing tendinopathies across several structures, including the Achilles, biceps, and quadriceps tendons. These tendinopathies often occur within the first year of statin use. Ensure you clarify this with your health care provider before taking further steps.
