When the mechanics of your foot are off, as they will be with underpronation, it can throw your body out of alignment. If left untreated, it will distort the whole kinematic chain (ankle, knee, hip, and back), causing pain. Thus, it's likely that the hip pain you're experiencing is due to underpronation.
