Can arch supports cure my plantar fasciitis?
Asked 4 years ago
If I wear insoles with arch support, can this help get rid of my plantar fasciitis, or is it more complicated than that?

The most efficient method to get rid of plantar fasciitis is to keep your arches from getting flat by adding hard arch support to your shoe. When it comes to footwear, athletic shoes with arch support, a higher heel drop, and a metal insert in the sole of the shoe are the best options for patients with plantar fasciitis.

You cannot cure plantar fasciitis. You can control the over-pronation that is the main causation by wearing an appropriate orthotic. It is possible for the orthotic to eliminate the symptoms, but if you stop using it, it is very likely they will reappear. The orthotic does not need to be hard in order to control subtalar motion, but it does need to be firm enough to offer this control.
Be careful with metal inserts in the shoe as these may cause problems of their own.
