How do you treat a plantar plate tear without surgery?

Are there any treatments for plantar plate tears that I can try before I resort to surgery?

Yes, there are several non-surgical treatments for a torn plantar plate. Treatment approach will depend on severity of tear but will generally include exercises, massage, taping, shoe modification, splitting, use of custom orthotics, activity modification and in some cases, even crutches and casts.
