How do you know if you have a grade 1 or grade 2 ankle sprain?
Asked 3 years ago
I sprained my ankle. I can't put any weight on it and it's only swelling a bit. Is that a grade 1 or grade 2 ankle sprain?

A grade 1 sprain causes mild tenderness and swelling, but you'll be able to walk on the ankle after a short rest. Comparatively, a grade 2 ankle sprain causes more pain, swelling and bruising, making walking extremely painful. Also, complete recovery may take up to one month after injury.
