Am I at high risk of spraining my ankle from high-arched feet?
Asked 2 years ago
Hi, I just found out that I have something called cavus foot. I am someone who exercises regularly and helps other people improve their fitness. I'm concerned that I would have to stop exercising for fear of further injuring myself, like spraining my ankle, for instance, now that my feet are off balance. Or am I just being overly paranoid?

According to the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, high arches lead to foot and ankle instability. With ankle instability, the risk of an ankle sprain also increases. You can take steps to minimize the instability by using custom orthotics. They provide arch support and ensure equal distribution of pressure on the foot.
