Could it be good to have high arches if I am an athlete?
Asked 4 years ago
I haven't experienced a lot of pain since being told I have high arches. In fact, I only knew this thanks to getting custom orthotics done for my feet to see if it would improve my performance in sports. I want to find out whether this type of foot formation would increase the dexterity of my movements.

It is not generally considered that having high arches will be a benefit or increase your athletic performance in sports. In severe cases of high arches, it may be considered to increase the risk of developing injuries to the feet or to the ankle joint. Custom orthotics are a safe, effective way to provide the feet with adequate support while distributing the weight throughout the entire sole of the foot and may prove to improve athletic performance in that regard.
