Is it okay for me to sleep with my shoes on?
Asked 4 years ago
Someone told me that wearing shoes to bed can help naturally shrink the size of my bunions. Is this true? Will it really fix my bunions? Is it even healthy to sleep with shoes on, or should I avoid it?

It is unhealthy to sleep with shoes on. Apart from dirtiness and harmful bacteria, you should keep in mind that the skin on your feet needs to breathe to stay healthy and fresh. Sleeping with covered feet often can increase the chance of fungal infection such as an Athlete's foot. It is not recommended!

The longer your shoe remains on, the longer you'll deprive your feet of necessary aeration and make it a breeding ground for fungi due to the moisture of your feet. Good shoes can prevent your bunion from worsening, but custom orthotics like bunion separators are better for use, especially overnight.
