Can orthotics fix metatarsalgia from running?
Asked a year ago
Recently I developed metatarsalgia from running on pavement. I bought orthotic inserts to ease the pain and although hey help a bit, I still get that sharp pain after a few miles. So I'm left wondering if should I switch to softer shoes or try out custom orthotics? I would really love advice from fellow runners.

I’ve been in a similar spot, and honestly, softer shoes only gave me temporary relief. But what made the real difference was getting custom orthotics for metatarsalgia. Because they’re made to fit your foot, custom orthotics hit the exact spots that were giving me trouble. My stride felt way more natural, and that sharp pain started to fade.
