Is it normal to get shin splints as a new runner?
Asked 4 years ago
I have gotten shin splints twice now, and I am wondering if this is normal? I have only recently taken up running.

Yes, as a new runner it is common to get shin splints. Beginners are most vulnerable to shin splints because they use legs muscles that have not been stressed or pressured in the same wat before. Shin splints develop from excessive exercise or an increase in training. The most commonly, the activity is a high-intensity, repeatitive lower-leg workout. This is why shin splints are so common in new runners or new dancers.
