Can shockwave therapy make plantar fasciitis worse?
Asked 4 years ago
I have naturally higher arches than normal and it's lead to inflammation in my legs and feet and plantar fasciitis. I'm really wanting to try non-surgical treatment for the intense heel pain that I have from plantar fasciitis, and I recently heard about acoustic shockwave therapy (EPAT). My pain level ranges from sharp, stabbing pains early in the morning to a general dull ache throughout the day. I'm wary of medications, like anti-inflammatory drugs, but I've also heard some people say that acoustic shockwave therapy can make plantar fasciitis worse. Is this true? Can I use shockwave therapy to help treat my plantar fasciitis?

There are several things that you should avoid with plantar fasciitis.
Acoustic shock wave therapy, however, is the most effective and safe non-surgical treatment for plantar fasciitis. Around 91 percent of participants in clinical studies report positive outcomes- reduction in chronic pain and increased mobility. EPAT and Practicing safety in acute inflammation and during activity such as wearing orthotics reduces heel pain. Get well soon!!
