Does Astym therapy help plantar fasciitis?

Asked 2 years ago

I have suffered from plantar fasciitis and heel pain for an incredibly long time. Contrary to popular belief, it did NOT go away on its own like most people said. It's been a few years and I still have yet to recover fully from this painful condition. I've recently heard about another type of treatment called Astym therapy that can apparently relieve pain. Does anyone have any experience with Astym therapy that can validate this claim? Can Astym therapy heal plantar fasciitis?

Yes, there's strong evidence for the use of Astym therapy in the relief of pain resulting from plantar fasciitis and other soft tissue dysfunction. It will both aid the healing and regeneration of damaged tissue as well as the removal of unwanted scar tissue responsible for the pain/movement restriction.

Astym therapy has been proven to be an effective therapy to manage a condition such as plantar fasciitis. It has shown considerably high efficacy in resolving the symptoms associated with plantar fasciitis, with a treatment period of 4-5 weeks, in most cases. Astym therapy is said to restore range of motion in the foot, contributing to increased movement while reducing pain levels associated with this condition. This form of therapy is non-invasive and does not involve surgery, injections or medication. This form of therapy can be used in conjunction with custom orthotics and other conservative management strategies used to treat plantar fasciitis.
