Will I develop Achilles tendonitis if I occasionally play sports?

Asked a year ago

Good evening everyone, I love to occasionally play sports events on weekends as a way to get out of the house and socialize. However, I've been experiencing stiffness in my calves all the way down to my ankle. This could be due to me being unfit, but I don't know how to tell the difference between Achilles tendonitis and simply a stiff muscle.

You may develop Achilles tendonitis if you play sports with improper shoes and techniques. However, the symptoms to expect with Achilles tendonitis supersede calf stiffness. If it is Achilles tendonitis, you may also experience pain and swelling in the lower part of the calf and heel. This pain will generally be worse in the morning.
