How did I get a tailor's bunion?

Asked 2 years ago

I'm sitting with a bunion on the side of my little toe, and I have no idea how I got it in the first place. What causes it?

Tailor's bunions can be caused by a variety of factors, and no one is immune to these bony protrusions. However, if you have a family history of bunions, your chances of getting them are higher. Bunions are also more likely to develop if you have the following risk factors:

  • Hypermobile feet are a problem.
  • Suffering with a foot injury
  • Flat-footedness
  • Not wearing shoes that are well-fitting

Tailor's bunions can also develop as a result of some neurological illnesses, and women who have a history of wearing high-heeled shoes may be at an increased risk of developing bunions since these shoes aggravate the underlying structural issue.
