What is the success rate of shockwave therapy?
Asked 2 years ago
I've been getting severe sharp pains in my heel, almost like being stabbed by a knife, every time I walk around, with a constant dull ache and foot pain when I'm not walking around. I looked up the symptoms and think I've got heel spurs. I've been looking for a treatment that's a non-invasive approach and does not require surgery. I found a site that recommended shockwave therapy as a way to feel with heel spurs. What do you guys know of this? Will it work? Are there any side effects of ESWT?

Acoustic shock wave therapy is the most effective and safe non-surgical treatment for plantar fasciitis. . It does not require painkillers because the goal of the therapy is to stimulate the body's own natural healing reaction. Following the initial treatment, many people report that their pain has subsided and their mobility has improved. Have you tried any of those insole pads? Custom insoles give support and align foot biomechanics. Combining ESWT and insoles can really help with healing process

Studies by Ogden et al. (2018) and Consentino et al. (2001) suggest that ESWT will reduce calcaneal symptoms. In both cases, using ESWT caused significant improvement in pain and function when compared to the control group. That's why the FDA approved its use in 2002. Also, you can combine the ESWT with a custom orthosis for more effect.
