Why is the bottom of my heel so painful?
Asked a year ago
Hi, I have had a sharp pain in my right heel for the past 2 days or so. I was hoping it would have gone away by now, but it hasn't. Any idea what it could be?

Heel pain, especially sharp heel pain, is often caused by plantar fasciitis. (if the pain is under your heel bone)
There are multiple causes of plantar fasciitis, such as standing for a long period on hard and rough surfaces, tight calf muscles, overpronated or flat feed, improve footwear. It is a condition commonly seen in long-distance runners.
Other causes of heel pain are stress fracture, tendonitis, arthritis, nerve irritation, or, rarely, a cyst.

Heel pain, especially sharp heel pain, is often a sign of plantar fasciitis, the inflammation of the thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. Without intervention, it may take some time to go away. To fast track healing, you can use NSAIDs, ice, rest, and wear supportive shoes and insoles.
