Does acupuncture help with heel pain?
Asked a year ago
I have friends who have recommended acupuncture to me in the past to help relieve pain in the body. But I'm not sure if it's possible to use acupuncture on your feet? I have pain in my heels and want to try acupuncture to fix it. Does anybody know more?

Acupuncture is invasive and involves inserting needles into specific areas of the body to reduce pain. Acupuncture is extremely helpful in reducing pain in areas around the body, and is usually inserted into the muscle belly. Due to the often lack of muscle tissue in the heel area due to the plantar fascia, acupuncture in the area can cause pain.
However, acupuncture has been documented to reduce plantar fasciitis pain in the short term; there is insufficient evidence for a definitive conclusion regarding its effectiveness in the longer term. There are other conservative management strategies that can be attempted before trying acupuncture. Orthotics, ice and self-massage have been well documented to manage symptoms of heel pain.
