Can I use insoles for high heels to prevent heel pain while dancing?
Asked a year ago
Hi guys! I am a Jazz Dancer who dances in high heels, and I often suffer from Achilles Tendonitis. Therefore, I am looking to buy a discreet insole to wear in my high heels to help to support my feet while I dance. Does anybody have advice as to whether it is safe for me to wear insoles while I dance? Will wearing insoles affect my balance while I perform?

Offloading the achilles tendon by making use of orthotics can help tremendously in alleviating your achilles tendonitis. There are a range of insoles that can be used in conjunction with heels used for dancing and should not affect your balance and proprioception while dancing. Finding the right insoles for you may, however, be challenging, but a cost-effective and safe way to manage the symptoms associated with achilles tendonitis. Stretching of the gastrocnemius and soleus muscle will further help you in reducing your pain. Ice can be applied in severe cases to manage inflammation.
