Should I continue wearing orthotics even though they haven't improved my shin splints?

Asked 2 years ago

Any advice on healing and preventing shin splints? I cannot walk moderate/fast pace for exercise without always getting shin splints. Got custom orthotics made and have used them for over a month and they haven't caused any issues or improvements. I just want to be active again without pain. I am 5 months post severe sprain and that still causes issues.

Keep using your orthotics, as there may be subtle changes and improvements going on that you aren't aware of yet. These things take time. Orthotics can't cure shin splints, but they can reduce the stress on your shins by improving the alignment and stability of your feet.
