What is the best insole for hammertoe?
I have abnormal muscle balance in my feet that led to hammertoes in both feet. I have minor flexible flat feet, which I think is probably the reason for my hammertoes, and I was wondering which insoles with good arch supports could cure my flat feet and my hammertoes.Asked 2 years ago

Will putting orthotic insoles into my basketball shoes make me jump higher?
Hi, I had this crazy thought that maybe, since orthotic insoles improve performance, they should also allow me to jump higher? It would be such a cool hack if possible! Is this far-fetched? Let me know!Asked 2 years ago

Over the counter vs. custom orthotics for a torn plantar plate?
Hello everybody, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I have been diagnosed with a torn plantar plate in my right foot. We tend to take long walks each day from spring through fall, but since winter/snow, I have not been taking so many. The pain in my foot started at the end of last summer with the ball of my foot hurting during my walks. I always wear sneakers on walks, but at home, I tend to walk barefooted on our hardwood floors and wear flip-flops most of the warm weather days. What prompted me to get it checked out was horrible pinching pain at night when I was not even using my foot. It must have been inflamed because a few nights of taking Advil and the pain has mostly subsided. This was about two weeks ago. My podiatrist diagnosed the tear via an ultrasound. He suggested an injection which I am wary of, especially since my pain level is currently quite low. My pain is now minimal when I wear work shoes that have a very slight heel and decent arch support. I only get pain when I walk for long distances or do things around the house barefooted. The podiatrist also suggests custom orthotics, but they are pricey. Are custom orthotics better than store-bought?Asked 2 years ago
